Chicago’s 5 Best Outdoor Patios

There are only three things that are certain in life: death, taxes, and packed outdoor patios on a warm summer day in Chicago. We know—countless blogs, articles, and social media discussions have already covered where some of the best outdoor patios are in the city. But just like in real estate, everybody has their own certain preferences on where to go and which places have the best atmosphere, and when we’re talking about outdoor patios on the north side, here’s a short list of some of our faves…

Homeslice Chicago

Sure, all the creative thin crust pizzas here are good, but if you’ve yet to experience the outdoor patio here at Homeslice, you don’t know what you’re missing. This isn’t just one of our favorite summertime spots on the north side, it’s one of our favorite summertime spots in the whole city!

Barcocina

Nothing says summer like Mexican food and margaritas, and there’s no better outdoor spot for this tasty combo than at Lakeview’s Barconcina. The rustic-industrial vibe is like something out of the West Loop, but the outdoor patio definitely screams north side. Good food, good service, and a great vibe at this spot.

Broken English Taco Pub

Not to be outdone, the Broken English Taco Pub location in Lincoln Park also has a unique outdoor setup, and the food and drinks here are just as yummy. If you’re looking for a vibrant and colorful atmosphere to go along with a bright sunny day, you can’t go wrong with Broken English Taco Pub’s awesome outdoor patio.

Sheffield’s

Sheffield’s beer garden and outdoor patio is a must-hit at some point during the summer, regardless of whether it’s before a Cubs game, after a Cubs game, or just during a random day with no game going on at all. The beer list here is superb, and the BBQ is also definitely on-point.

The Patio at Cafe Brauer

When it’s summer in Chicago, spend a day at the park and grab lunch or dinner over at The Patio at Cafe Brauer. The food and cocktails here are tremendous, but the real draw is the awesome view of the skyline and the pond at Lincoln Park.
